**SNOW**

Last night was the first snowfall at UW-L this year!! It started at about 9pm or so yesterday and lasted through the night. When I woke up this morning, the ground was covered with a sparkling blanket of snow glistening in the sunlight! The nice part of living on campus is that the sidewalks get plowed and shoveled very frequently so you can always get where you need to go without having to trudge through too much snow. This first snowfall puts me in more of a holiday mood and now I am getting more excited for Christmas and winter break at the end of the semester!

According to the weather forecast, we are supposed to get a big storm tomorrow with more snow if the temperature stays cold enough, otherwise it will turn into freezing rain. Tomorrow I have a packed schedule for most of the day. I am performing in a concert for the UW-L Gospel Choir called Voices in Praise that I am a member of so I'm really excited for that. We have a rehearsal from 10am to noon tomorrow and then we have to be back by 3pm because the concert starts at 4pm. In between the rehearsal and the concert, I will be attending a Leadership Conference in the basement of my residence hall from noon to 2:30pm. I guess you could say my day is pretty jammed pack, but it will be a lot of FUN!!! I only have one class left for the day and then my weekend begins! I hope wherever you are that you can enjoy the snow if you have some! :)

Staff Preview Night

Last night, I went to an event called Staff Preview Night. It was basically an informational meeting about the student staff positions of Resident Assistant and Desk Coordinator. The event consisted of hall directors and assistant hall directors as well as current Resident Assistants and Desk Coordinators from all of the residence halls on campus talking about the RA and DC positions. In addition, they also discussed the eligibility requirements and responsibilities of each position. Overall, I felt the event was very informative and helpful because I am applying to be a Resident Assistant for next year! I am really excited and I hope I get to be an RA!!

In order to apply for either the Resident Assistant or Desk Coordinator position, you need to fill out an application online and also have two letters of recommendation written for you. These are usually written by people who currently hold the position you are applying for (or have in the past) or someone who is very familiar with the position and the responsibilities that come with it. Obviously the people writing the letters of recommendation for you also have to be knowledgeable of your talents and ability to meet the requirements of the student staff position. I am having both my RA from last year and my RA from this year each write me a letter of recommendation. I have also started filling out the remainder of the online application. Then later there will be interviews in February. I am just really excited for the position and I really hope that I get it! I know it would be a wonderful experience and I would absolutely love it! :)
